The aim of my weekend is simple - what kind of teaching will effectively attract students? 

The first day explores Markeaching - my term for describing skilful teaching that combines seamlessly with marketing. Build your confidence as an effective communicator - both in your sessions, and to attract people into your practice. Without compromising your ethics as a teacher - you will discover how to "markeach" your students so that they want to come, then want to keep studying with you.

The second day shows you how to evolve your teaching into the corporate world - what style of teaching do you use? Businesses - if you pick them right - have the money to spend and can offer you a healthy income and regular work. But it is not easy, and there are lots of ways that teachers have - in the past - been wasting their time by teaching inappropriately.

You can attend one or both days - each day is a separate curriculum. See below.

DAY 1 - ATS 12 Steps

DAY 1 - Markeaching

Below is a summary of the 12 Steps of the ATSuccess Plan. Over the day, I will be working with you on your teaching practice, and illuminating how this fits into a comprehensive plan for your practice.

Part I–How To Choose Your Community
(Who will you teach?)

 

1. PASSION

Are you excited about what you do? If not, what do you need to find excitement? Maybe it comes from the people you want to help…

2. NICHE

It is important to know who your market is. Do you love working with these people? Are there enough of them to support your biz? Do they have money to pay for your service?

3. SERVICE

What specifically will you offer these people? What is unique about you? Why would they come to you and non-one else? You must find a way to distinguish your service from all others.

4. PLACE

Your advantage in #3 could be as simple as being in a convenient location. Do people need to come to you? Are you willing to travel to them? Will you also have an online biz?

 

Part II–How To Build Your Community
(How will you attract them?)

 

5. MENTORS

Before you start, find your self some guides. Make sure you are on the road to success, not the road to failure. What successful person(s) can help guide you? 

6. LIST

Consciously, deliberately and intelligently, you need to gather a list of names and emails of people who might want your services. How do you do that? Where do you find them?

7. MARKETING

Marketing is the art of seduction - first, can you attract their attention? Second, will they like your message? Third, will they trust you enough to spend money on your service?

8. SALES

Marketing is about getting people to your front door, Sales is about convincing them to pay to come inside. You can love marketing and hate sales, but you need to be able to do both!

 

Part III–How To Sustain Your Community
(What will cause them to stay?)

 

9. TURNAROUND

One of the hidden secrets of biz building is that your work is transformative. What are your limiting beliefs? What is stopping you from being wonderful? Do you tell your Self: "I can't write" or "I am not good at selling."? You need to undo any limiting beliefs that stop you from being as wonderful as you actually are. 

10. AUTHORITY

People want a role model. Whether you feel an expert or not, students need to feel confident of your authority, that want to trust your information. You need to be this authority for them. 

11. BACK-END

Once students have finished their early stages of learning - do you have workshops, residentials and new discovery programmes available for them? If not, they may leave and your biz will be struggling to find new people all the time. Very tiring. You need to evolve a longer learning path, just as you have done on your own. 

12. TEAM

At some point, you need to build a team. You need other people supporting you in your efforts. There may be new opportunities to expand your work into other fields - this is an exciting new stage of development!

If you can only do one day, and you want to orientate towards your current practice, this is the day that will most benefit you. Those joining the 2nd day will be orienting towards finding their dream Corporate clients.

DAY TWO - Corporate Teaching

You need an exact, engaging and amusing teaching style to succeed in the often harsh and critical environment of a corporate seminar. This day is designed to give you the tools and confidence to accomplish that.

Your teaching is your service.

You've probably read about "gamifying" your service?

It means - finding a style of teaching that serves the purpose of education, while it simultaneously engages and entertains.

This is an art that can be studied, development and refined.

During this day we will be first exploring the purpose of your service - i.e. what is the niche market requirements that you must fulfil for your client?

From there, I will be working with you to develop a "service plan" for your corporate clients.

Your service must involve:

1. Infotainment.

When faced with a sour-faced and sceptical audience - can you make them laugh? You win.

2. Objective feedback

How to set up Pre/Post surveys designed to give the HR department the kind of information that will justify you continuing.

3. Goal-set Accomplishments

Knowing your "service niche" lets you design your work so you can delivery on the specific goals that you originally promised.

4. Generate work-place buzz

You want staff to talk about your sessions around the water-cooler. That doesn't have to be an accident - you can plan it.

5. Build mini-communities

A corporate environment is full of alliances and politics - understand how to use that to your advantage so you are invited back.

6. Designed to be ongoing

Build the seeds within your original proposal that logically shows HR that you need to return

7. Satisfy both HR and Staff.

You have to satisfy two clients - HR or Management, and the staff that attend. This requires two different strategies which self-support each other.

 

YOUR FIRST SEMINAR

I will be sharing an exact formula to use for your "taster" workshop that is guaranteed to get 80~100% happy faces in your post-survey questionnaire.

HR people will love you if you can deliver this kind of employee satisfaction.

I will be explaining why it is essential to separate the service contract from the delivery, and how to price it so it isn't pushed upstairs to a higher authority who might nix your deal before you even start.

There are a lot of rabbit holes and traps in the Corporate world, and our day will be exploring how to craft a teaching service that can survive in this jungle!

 

THE USE OF THE TIME

One of the big objections I receive from teachers when they first encounter the 12 Steps is: "How can I find the time?"

The answer is simple, but not easy.

You already have the time: the nonsense is in thinking you don't.

Alexscovery teachers are familiar with the idea of faulty sensory appreciation, but may not have fully comprehended how this works in The Use of Their Time.

You waste time and have scant recognition of how that is happening. The simple evidence of that is contained in the expression: 

"If you want something done, ask a busy person."

Why would a busy person have more time to get things done?

Have you ever noticed HOW HARD it is to get things done on a holiday?

Peter Drucker - one of the seminal figures of Management Theory - opens his book "The Effective Executive" by stating that most leaders are delusional about how they are utilising their time.

He recommends a two-step process:

1. Guesstimate how you are distributing your time now;

2. For one week rigorously record what happens.

For a busy executive, a PA can do that. In your case, you're the PA too!

I didn't say easy. I said simple.

I have done this exercise many times, and each time is a revelation. But there's another catch, a more important one; even more critical. Without this, you will most likely revert to old habits.

And that - dear possum - is what I will be sharing with you on the second day of my seminar in London. The day we gather together - and find the time - to figure out the service you can offer to your new corporate clients.
